TAKE THE SAT OR ACT (SPRING OF JR. YEAR)
Many colleges require a standardized test as part of their admissions process so taking these tests will significantly increase the number of options available to you. Your junior year is your first opportunity to take the official tests. You can also take them again in the fall of your senior year.
SIT IN ON COLLEGE REPRESENTATIVE VISITS
In addition to the college trips East Side offers, there will also be college admissions representatives coming to East Side to meet with students and give brief presentations on their schools. Keep an eye out for e-mails for Jerome about upcoming school visits.
START TO DEVELOP YOUR COLLEGE LIST
Using the information you've gotten from college tours, representative visits, and advisory lessons it's time to start drafting your college lists. You can talk through your options with your advisor, the college office staff, and your family. Think about which CUNY, SUNY, and private and/or out of state options you'd like to apply to.
GATHER YOUR FAMILY'S FINANCIAL DOCUMENTS
Collect your family's financial documents in the spring and bring them in to the college office. This will include things like your parent(s)' tax forms or documents about any public benefits they may receive.
